Announcement

Today marks the beginning of the next chapter in our journey. We are excited and proud to join forces with the team at ClickDimensions.

In these new, remote-first work environments, collaboration will prove critical to sales and marketing organizations, and we are excited to bring our expertise and technology in this space to the ClickDimensions family.

Remote Work and Remote Deals

In a sign of the times, and proving that almost any type of business function can be completed remotely, this deal went from inception to closing 100% remote. Even though ClickDimensions is located in Atlanta, we navigated the process from our home offices.

Despite that, we did have plenty of zoom meetings, Teams chats, video calls, virtual happy hours, and a lot of joint product development that gave everyone an abundance of confidence that this was the right move at the right time.

The Right Time

Speaking of timing, when we started Eletype in 2018 messaging apps had just gained a toehold with engineers and developers. As engineers, we noticed that messaging frameworks were ideal for building DevOps tools. We also observed that these were increasingly used in marketing technology and for marketing operations.

The Right Place

Developers and engineers have always been more inclined to work remotely and, if not remotely from home, remotely within the office. Feeling more connected via technology and messaging than in the physical office space.

Fast forward to 2020 and everyone got comfortable being connected through collaborative applications more than ever before. And working remotely meant the rapid implementation and adoption of enterprise messaging tools like Slack and Teams.

Initially, Slack was not only the dominant platform, but it was also the only one with a robust application layer that allowed for the creation of full fledged products, rather than just niche utility applications. We spent the first 2 years of Eletype building exclusively within Slack, but with the start of the global pandemic in early 2020 we saw the rise of Microsoft Teams as a major competitor to Slack. We took notice.

We’ve covered this rivalry extensively in our blog, but to summarize, Microsoft Teams brought messaging and collaboration into the mainstream. And it was our work and newly found expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem that turned a business partnership discussion with ClickDimensions into something more.

What’s Next

Eletype will continue to support our customers through our Slack and Teams apps for search, social and email marketing and, over the coming months, we will extend our solution across the Microsoft Dynamics sales and marketing stack.

Gartner’s 2020 Marketing Operations Survey listed a lack of team communication and collaboration as the #1 impediment in marketing operations. It’s not surprising that the global pandemic has fundamentally changed how we work as marketing and sales professionals and our switch to remote working created as many problems as it solved.

And that’s what I’m most excited about in our next chapter. ClickDimensions is uniquely positioned to solve these problems and to bring value to marketing teams and sales teams alike.

On behalf of our entire team, I’d like to thank all of our customers, mentors, advisors and investors for your support this past year.

Sincerely,

Michael Sengbusch
